Enhancing Teak (Tectona grandis) Seedling Growth by Rhizosphere Microbes: A Sustainable Way to Optimize Agroforestry

چکیده

With its premium wood quality and resistance to pests, teak is a valuable tree species remarkably required for timber trading agroforestry. The nursery stage of plantation needs critical care warrant long-term productivity. This study aimed search beneficial rhizosphere microbes assess their teak-growth-promoting potentials during stock preparation. Three rhizosphere/root-associated microbes, including two rhizobacteria (a nitrogen-fixing root endophyte-Agrobacterium sp. CGC-5 actinobacterium-Kitasatospora TCM1-050) an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (Claroideoglomus PBT03), were isolated used in this study. Both could produce vitro phytohormones (auxins) catalase. the pot-scale assessments, applying these form consortia offered better activities than individual applications, supported by significantly increased seedling biomass. Moreover, roles highly dependent upon support other rhizobacteria. Based on our findings, establishing synergistic interactions between roots was promising sustainable strategy enhance growth development at reduce chemical inputs

Establishment of endomycorrhizal fungi on micropropagated teak (Tectona grandis L.f.)

Background Commercial micropropagation of teak (Tectona grandisL.f.) has been achieved for a number of years in countries such as Thailand, India and Malaysia. This has led to the availability of elite genotypes for large scale plantation production. Teak has been shown to develop arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal associations [1], and this has been attributed to increasing productivity [2]. I...

Adsorption of Cadmium(ii) Ions from Aqueous Solution by Tectona Grandis L.f. (teak Leaves Powder)

Batch adsorption studies were undertaken with the abundantly available waste biosorbent Tectona grandis L.f. leaf powder for removal of cadmium(II) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption experiments were performed under various conditions such as time, temperature, different initial Cd(II) concentrations, pH, adsorbent dosage, and adsorbent particle size. The data showed that in 30 minutes, 1 g...

An extract from teak (Tectona grandis) bark inhibited Listeria monocytogenes and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

AIMS The aim of this study was to characterize the inhibitory mechanism in teak (Tectona grandis) bark and to determine its effectiveness against Listeria monocytogenes and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). METHODS AND RESULTS Methanol extracts of teak bark were inhibitory to L. monocytogenes and MRSA by means of disc diffusion. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and (1)H...

Contact Eczema Caused by True Teak (tectona Grandis). a Follow-up Study of a Previous Epidemiological Investigation, and a Study into the Sensitizing Effect of Various Teak Extracts.

A follow-up study of a previous epidemiological investigation in a furniture factory concerning allergic contact eczema caused by true teak (Tectona grandis) clearly shows that a good educational campaign associated with specific and general prophylactic measures are able to control occupational dermatoses. At the first investigation 20-5 % of the workers had allergic contact eczema and/or seve...

Growth rate and ring width variability of teak, Tectona grandis (Verbenaceae) in an unmanaged forest in East Timor.

Teak (Tectona grandis) is one of the most valuable timbers in international trade and an important species for tropical forestry. Teak is found on the island of East Timor but no information is available on teak growth from this region. A pure stand planted in 1940-50 in the North of East Timor and left unmanaged was studied. Fifteen trees were sampled in October-November 2003 and stem discs ta...
